Dance for Charity 2025: A Night of Passion, Purpose, and Hope

World Champions, Senior Minister of State, and Dance Lovers Unite for a Meaningful Cause in Singapore

Singapore, [25th Oct 2025] — Passionate dances, a grand ballroom, and exquisite cuisine — what do they have to do with charity?
Tonight, at the Orchid Country Club, the answer came alive as the “Dance for Charity” Gala lit up the stage with rhythm, elegance, and compassion.

The event was initiated by Ms. Aleena Tan, founder of Sunny Low Dance Production Studio and Vice President International Dance Organization and Chairperson Asia & Asia Pacific Region of the International Dance Organization (IDO). She invited world professional champions Stanislav Zelianin and Irina Cherepanova to perform, while Mr. Murali Pillai SC, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Law & Ministry of Transport, graced the evening as Guest of Honour. A total of 280 guests from Australia, Bulgaria, China, Taiwan, Thailand, New Zealand, Russia, and Singapore attended, raising funds for the Ain Society In support of Cancer Survivors.

A Call for Compassion and Awareness

Taking the stage, Aleena Tan expressed heartfelt gratitude to Senior Minister of State Murali PillaiDr. Haji Md Yusof Ismail, CEO of Ain Society, as well as all sponsors, donors, and guests for their generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment.

“The true essence of charity is not merely about giving money — it lies in our willingness to lend a helping hand to those who need it most,” she said.
“Tonight is not only about raising funds, but also about raising awareness — about understanding the struggles faced by many individuals and families, and pledging ourselves to be part of the solution.”

She also praised Sian Chay Medical Institution for setting an inspiring example by supporting another charitable organization, Ain Society, without hesitation. She extended special thanks to Bengawan SoloDS Lee FoundationMs. Regina WongSian Chay Medical Institution, and The Hour Glass for their generous contributions.

“Through our presence, our contributions, and our voices, we are sending a powerful message of hope to the beneficiaries of Ain Society,” Aleena added.
“As we celebrate this evening, let us remember that every dollar we raise, every smile we share, and every hand we extend is a catalyst for change.”

An Evening of Dance, Friendship, and Inspiration

At the gala, fine dining alternated with spectacular dance showcases. After each course, a new performance graced the floor. Guests praised the cuisine, though Aleena herself barely tasted the first dish — she was busy greeting attendees and accompanying Senior Minister of State Murali Pillai to toast and thank each table personally.

Couples of professional dancers entered hand in hand as emcees introduced them one by one. Each pair began their performance on stage, descended the red-carpeted stairs, and glided across the ballroom, presenting their art to guests on both sides. Their breathtaking spins and elegant steps drew cheers, applause, and admiration from all corners of the hall.

Stories Behind the Smiles

Guests shared heartfelt reasons for supporting the event.
Ms. Lim Siew Hua said,

“We are here to support Aleena. She’s a pioneer in Singapore’s dance community — a legend. For the past three years, she’s organized charity dance competitions, and as dance lovers, we all come to support her.”

Despite her husband’s illness, Ms. Pauline volunteered at the registration counter, working alongside Malay community members even while recovering from a leg injury.

Mr. Zhuo Yue shared, “Dance is a wonderful exercise — it keeps you active and helps you maintain a positive outlook.”

Taiwanese dancer Peng Shiyun was seen practicing before her turn on stage. “This is my second time competing in Singapore,” she said. “I first came as a child. I’m thrilled to be back.”

Her coach, Mr. Liu Shun-yi, who has taught dance for over 30 years, brought his students to support the event. He believes dance education builds grace, discipline, and character — and shared that his daughter, once affected by spinal scoliosis, gained confidence and poise through dance.

A Legacy of Giving

Senior Minister of State Murali Pillai commended Aleena for her leadership and vision, praising the charity dance gala as “a truly meaningful initiative.”

Since its inception, the Singapore International Charity Dance Championships have raised impressive funds — $220,000 in its first year, $260,000 in the second, and $360,000 last year. Now in its fourth edition, donations are still being counted as contributions continue to flow in.

A celebrated world-class international dance judge, Aleena has served at prestigious competitions worldwide, including the Hangzhou Latin Dance Festival and the upcoming Taiwan Open Grand Prix, where she will chair the judging panel.

Moments to Remember

Among the guests was Ms. Dai Kai from Singapore Junior Reporters Network, specially invited as the event’s photographer.

“I was rushing to capture every moment,” she laughed. “I’m so grateful to Aleena for the chance — the more hands-on experience I have, the more I can share with my students.”

In one heartwarming moment, an elderly Malay gentleman teased her, saying,

“He wants to dance with you! He has no partner!”
Ms. Dai replied with a smile, “I can’t dance either! I wish I could. I’m too old — but I hope you find a young partner soon!”
The hall erupted in laughter, filling the night with warmth and joy.

As the winners were announced, Senior Minister of state Murali PillaiAleena Tan, and Dr. Haji Md Yusof Ismail presented the trophies. Dancers embraced Aleena with gratitude and emotion.

The night concluded with couples — professionals and guests alike — dancing freely across the grand ballroom, cherishing every moment under the lights.
It was not just a dance gala — it was a celebration of kindness, unity, and the beauty of giving.

她特别鸣谢了Bengawan Solo, DS Lee Foundation、Ms Regina Wong、善济医社和The Hour Glass等捐赠者。

(Jive)
